Technical Theater for Teens – Behind the Scenes, Center Stage
Our Technical Theater class is designed for teens who are curious about the magic that happens behind the curtain. This hands-on course introduces students to the essential skills and knowledge needed to support and enhance live productions through backstage artistry and technology.
Participants will explore key areas of technical theater including:
🎭 Lighting Design – Learn how to set the mood and direct focus on stage using professional lighting equipment and design techniques.
🔊 Sound Design & Operation – Discover how to use microphones, soundboards, and effects to create a powerful auditory experience.
🛠️ Set Design & Construction – From blueprints to building, students will learn how to design and construct scenery that supports storytelling.
🎨 Props & Costumes – Dive into the creative process of making and managing props and costumes that bring characters and scenes to life.
🎬 Stage Management – Gain real-world experience in organization, scheduling, and leadership by learning how to run a smooth and efficient production.
Taught by experienced theater professionals, this class emphasizes problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity. Students will work as a team to support live performances and may have the opportunity to participate in actual productions—gaining confidence, technical skills, and a deep appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that makes every show possible.
